Queen Elizabeth Room
A young Queen Elizabeth II visited Bella Vista in 1954 during her visit to Newcastle. The room she used has been named in her honour and features a four-poster queen size bed, elegant upholstered lounge, TV-video, deep claw-foot bath and walk-in wardrobe. Still to be seen on the wall is an old servants bell used to summon staff for assistance.
Duke of Gloucester Family Suite
Named in honour of the Duke of Gloucester who stayed at Bella Vista in 1946 in his capacity as Governor General. This suite has 2 bedrooms and features a magnificent four-poster queen size bed and an adjoining room with three single beds. The large original bathroom is dominated by a huge claw-foot bath and separate shower cubicle. Other features include A/C, TV-video, phone and a luxurious lounge.
Louis Mountbatten Room
Louis Mountbatten visited Bella Vista in 1920 when he accompanied the then Prince of Wales, Edward on his tour of Australia. Mountbatten was born in 1900 (great grandson of Queen Victoria) and later served as British Viceroy in India in 1947. The room features a four-poster queen size bed, TV-Video, lavish lounge suite, A/C, phone and immaculately maintained original bathroom.
Colonial Room
An exotically furnished room full of intricately carved, exquisitely decorated Thai furniture. Revealing an era when artifacts from different cultures were highly prized as decorative items. The room features a queen size bed, full canopy, elephant chair, TV/video, A/C, walk-in wardrobe, shared bathroom.
May Burgess Room
Named in honour of May Burgess, a servant to the Baker family in the 1920’s. She returned to Bella Vista 70 years later as the grandmother of one of our bridegrooms. This large room features queen size bed, single bed, Edwardian furniture, luxuury lounge, TV/video, A/C, shared bathroom.
